Professional Development for Media Educators in Manitoba
Orientation and in-service sessions in English Language Arts have been conducted by Manitoba Education, Training and Youth for Grades K-Senior 4.
The annual Manitoba Association of Teachers of English (MATE) conference that is held in October each year often includes media education workshops. MATE also supports media education through articles that relate to this subject area in its journal, Classmate.
In 1995, the University of Manitoba offered a 13-week media literacy course for teachers. A media education course is usually offered at the Manitoba summer institute for teachers, although in the past few years enrolment has been barely sufficient to justify the course.
